Two remarkable projects led by ݮý researchers have brought significant recognition to the university by securing seven prestigious awards at the International Invention and Innovation Contest “PRIX EIFFEL INTERNATIONAL” held in Paris, France, on 12-13 November 2024. The first project, “Landslide Area Prediction using Machine Learning and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Imaging”, led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ooi Shih Yin from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) received the PRIX EIFFEL 2024 Platinum Medal Award. This groundbreaking work also garnered multiple special awards, including the Special Award by Innovation Initiative Co-operative Inc. (Toronto, Canada), Eurobusiness-Haller & Haller Pro Inventio Foundation, and the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest.
In addition, the project titled “Cloud-Based Sleep Quality Monitoring System Using Pressure Sensor Grid”, spearheaded by Ts. Dr. Yeo Boon Chin from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) was honored with the PRIX EIFFEL 2024 Gold Medal Award. The innovative project also received special recognition from the Toronto International Society of Innovation & Advanced Skills (TISIAS) and the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA). Both award-winning projects are proudly featured on ݮý’s IP Mall and can be explored in further detail via this link. This outstanding achievement would not have been possible without the support and coordination of the Research Management Centre (RMC) and the Technology Transfer Office (TTO).
